Manage a Child Cloud - Global Admin

Note: Only users with the Global Admin role can view the screens and perform the functions described below. See Roles and Permissions for more information.

A Global Admin has the ability to perform administrative tasks on a child cloud.

Create a Child Cloud

Follow the steps below to create a new virtual Child cloud, which will sit underneath your Parent cloud.

 

1. Click the Virtual Clouds icon   in the sidebar.

 

2. From the top of your screen, click on the cloud name. Then select View all clouds from the dropdown menu.

 

 

3. A list of all your clouds will appear. Click Create Virtual Cloud

 

 

4. In the Create Virtual Cloud screen, use the table below to complete the fields. 

 

 

Use this table to complete the above fields. Note: The only mandatory field is 'Cloud Name'. Complete the other fields only as required.

Cloud Name

Mandatory - a unique name for your cloud.

Primary Contact Name of a primary contact
Secondary Contact Name of a secondary contact
Cost Centre Cost centre
Phone Number

Phone number, starting with the country code and area code, with no spaces

Projected Spending Alert

Enter a number, with no spaces or punctuation.

e.g 10000, not 10 000 or $10,000

Email Email address

 

5. Once you have completed the fields click Create > Confirm


6. Your new Virtual Cloud will display underneath the Parent cloud on the All Virtual Clouds screen.


Delete a Child Cloud

 

Warning: The 'delete' action cannot be undone.

Child clouds can't be deleted in the following situations:

 

A child cloud can't be deleted when... How to Resolve
It contains objects or users with active subscriptions. The option to delete a cloud will only display if the cloud is empty. To disable subscriptions or delete users, see the help topics: Manage Users and Assign Roles and Manage Subscriptions.
You are in the Child cloud's own 'Summary' screen. The deletion must be done from either the 'View all Clouds' screen, or the Parent Cloud's 'Summary' screen. See View Virtual Clouds - Global Admin.
Your role does not have permission to delete a cloud. The deletion will need to be performed by your organisation's Global Admin. See Roles and Permissions for more information.

 

Steps

Follow the steps below to delete a Child cloud.

 

1. Click the Virtual Clouds icon   in the sidebar.

 

2. At the top of your screen, click on the cloud name. From the dropdown menu, select the Child cloud to be deleted.

 

 

3. Click the Options Cog > Delete Cloud. If this menu option is not available, check the notes above for the situations when a Child cloud can't be deleted.


4. Click Delete to confirm.


 

5. Your Child cloud will be deleted, and will no longer display on the View all clouds or Parent cloud Summary screen.


Edit Child Cloud Details

Follow the steps below to edit your Child cloud details (cloud name, contacts, phone number, etc).

 

1. Click the Virtual Clouds icon   in the sidebar.

 

2. At the top of the screen, click the cloud name. From the dropdown menu, select the child cloud you want to edit.

 

 

3. Select the Options Cog > Edit Cloud Details.

 

 

4. In the Edit Cloud Details screen, update the fields as required. Then click Save, or Cancel to exit without saving. 

 

 


Manage Users

The Manage Users screen allows you to create, edit or delete users at a Parent Cloud or Child Cloud level, and assign roles.

Manage Subscriptions

The Manage Subscriptions screen allows you to enable or disable service subscriptions as required. See the Manage Subscriptions help topic for more information.
